Disneyland! july 07

We finally made it to Disneyland! At first Brian didn't think it was a great idea and felt that Delaney wouldn't have any memories of the visit, but I'm wasn't convinced. And if the memories will fade, she definitely laughed and giggled and took in all the sights, and we've got lots of pictures to prove we were there! Brian finally relented when I convinced him that we should go more for Mommy's sake, since I love Disneyland and hadn't been to the park in California since 1987....twenty years ago already! So that morning we packed up for the day and arrived at the park around 11:00 am. When we entered the front gates, we were pleased to learn that the park didn't close until midnight, and we didn't think we'd stay that long but actually ended up staying until just before closing time-so we got our money's worth! It was an extremely sweltering day so during the lunch hour we hung out in an air-conditioned restaurant to get some relief from the heat. Otherwise, the day couldn't have gone better. It was a good day to go because there were hardly any lines at all for the rides that we were interested in--the classic kiddie rides from the 1950's that the big kids stay away from..... we hit It's A Small World (twice!), Peter Pan's Flight, Pirates of the Caribbean (twice!), Tom Sawyer's River Adventure, Snow White's Scary Adventures (twice!), Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Alice In Wonderland, Pinocchio'sDaring Journey, The Circus Train ride, The King Arthur carousel (five times!) and The Haunted Mansion (twice!), to name a few. We also went to ToonTown to visit Mickey's house, to the coronation ceremony of the princesses, and several shows including the Enchanted Tiki Room! Delaney took it all in, enjoying every ride (especially It's A Small World and the carousel ride!) and finally fell asleep in Mommy's arms around 9:30 in the Enchanted Tiki Room, just after watching the fireworks show outside. See the link below to Enchanted Tiki Room to fully grasp how easily Delaney drifted off to sleep while watching the show. The music was very relaxing and the lights mesmerizing.......Mommy almost fell asleep too!

After exiting the Enchanted Tiki Room, we walked around for awhile, and bought some souvenirs to take home. Delaney slept the last two hours in the Baby Bjorn, despite all the action around her. She's always been a champion snoozer! Our two best finds were an It's A Small World snowglobe and a Mickey 2007 snowglobe to add to her growing collection. Oh, and of course her Mickey Mouse ears hat with her name embroidered on the back! She now says "MINNIE!" anytime she sees Mickey OR Minnie, and I guess we have now formally indoctrinated her into the world of Disney (it was inevitably going to happen anyway right!?!?) I don't know who had more fun at Disney.....Mommy, Daddy, or Delaney, but it was an adventure we will all fondly look back on.
