Delaney went for the first time to Brookfield Zoo with her cousins Kyle, Brittney, and Aunt Jen and Uncle Scott (and Mommy and Dadddy!) Brookfield Zoo is a huge zoo with lots and lots of animals, both land and water. We really liked the dolphin show and the monkey house, especially the gorillas and orangutans!
The 17-year cicadas have finally crawled out of the ground to invade the Chicagoland area (see link below)

and they were calling out all day non-stop, so the noise level in the air was incredible. After a full day of listening to the cicadas call, our ears were ringing for awhile. The cicadas loved to fly into people's hair, down their shirts, and into their bags. It was fun watching people do the cicada dance---running all over the place screaming like crazy, trying to brush the cicadas out of their hair! Especially when it happened to Aunty Jen! One landed on Daddy's arm and Delaney was able to get an up-close and personal look at a real live cicada, which is something she won't be able to do again for another 17 years. At that time, she will be 18! And THAT will never happen, will it???
