Laney's doing great!
In late April, we took the kids to Funway Skate Center to try out rollerskating! We hadn't been there since April 2009, when Laney had just turned three and wasn't QUITE ready for skating. I had taken her out on the rink at that time, but she was very hesitant and didn't seem to enjoy it much. Well, this time was different, for both girls! We had only rented one pair of skates, because Lila at first said she didn't want to go. Then, as she watched her Daddy and big sis go around the rink those first few times, she right away decided she wanted to try it out too! So, we switched off the one pair of skates and the girls each took 10 minute turns with Daddy. Mommy watched with Christopher, who by the end of the night REALLY wanted to join in (he thinks he's five!) and got very antsy to get UP and onto the rink.....so after an hour of fun, we decided it was time to unlace the skates for the night and head home. Although slow moving, both girls did great--they have excellent balance and really seemed to enjoy themselves. Daddy was very patient and if anything, they became much more comfortable on the skating rink and with themselves rolling on wheels!
By the way, we found out as we arrived that it was Friday night "Teen Night", but that didn't keep us away. There were at least two or three other families with little kids, and in the end the big kids pretty much stayed out of our way!
