A few weekends ago we spent the weekend in downtown Chicago. Before departing, I told Delaney she could choose a few books and put them into Mommy's suitcase before we left for the trip. I then left the room to get a few more things to add to my bag. After about five minutes, I returned to her room......and found this!!! She had literally packed my (huge) suitcase full of about fifty books, and it was overflowing to the point that it could not be zipped. When asked if she was all done packing, she promptly said yes, she was ready to go! When I then asked her if maybe she had packed too much, she said "No Mommy, I want to bring THESE books!" Needless to say, after she left the room we "downsized" the book supply a bit.
Oh dear, it looks like our daughter might just have inherited the "over pack-itis" gene, a hereditary condition that is passed down from generation to generation, and in this case has clearly passed from mother to daughter. But in the end, what's a girl to do, really! You can never pack too many outfits or shoes for a trip (or books, for that matter!)
And Delaney, you had to know that you were in trouble when your mommy packed three overstuffed bags on the day that you were born......just to go to the hospital to deliver you :O)
