On the way to the Upper Peninsula, Michigan this summer, we stopped by the summer home of Frank and Ellen Clements, good friends of Brian's and also Brian's former boss. They have a lovely little cottage that they built a few years back. I instantly fell in love with the place! The entire house is decorated in light, airy colors and the landscaping was colorful and whimsical. We spent just a few hours there enjoying lunch (and chocolate pudding for the girls!) but I really enjoyed their company and they were such welcoming hosts! I can only dream to someday have such a peaceful and serene place to rest my head at night....probably not until I retire, but it will be worth the wait!
Ps. When enlarging the photo grid, take a look at the portrait of Frank and Ellen that their neighbor painted in the "American Gothic" style, except that Frank is holding a paddle and they actually look friendly and relaxed rather than stern and miserable, unlike the original famous version......
