Delaney has taken her first steps! She took FOUR unassisted steps at Aunty Jen's house in Rockford last Saturday on March 31, 2007! We knew this day would be coming soon, as she been cruising around the coffee table and along the couch since October! She and her cousin Kyle were playing with Kyle's train set in the living room, and she decided to take a break and then take a few steps towards Mommy after standing next to Daddy!
In the past week she is only getting better and better. She's gotten good at standing unassisted for a minute or two at a time, and even took 15 steps last night (yes, we counted!!) She is still wobbly, but is getting more stable each day. She attempts walking a few times a day, but still mostly depends on crawling for her main mode of transport. However, we can tell that she is well on her way to being in an upright position for most of the time.....really soon!
The photos of her with her and cousin Kyle were taken on the day she took her first steps. Unfortunately, we didn't get photos that captured the moment she took those first few steps. However, there are some cute ones of her and Kyle playing with the train set and their weiner dog Lily. In the shots of her taken later in the week (wearing orange) there are a few of her actually walking/standing on her own, as Delaney is working out her steps in the world!
