John Deere Tractor Girl sept 07
For Labor Day weekend in early September, we visited the Quad Cities (Davenport and Bettendorf, Iowa and Moline and Rock Island, Illinois). We don't know anyone there and had never taken the time to visit before, but were interested in the John Deere tractor world headquarters in Moline. We had a nice weekend with wonderful weather and some interesting sightseeing which included Grand Prix go-cart races and drives around the historic neighborhoods of Rock Island and Moline. We finally made it to the John Deere headquarters on Monday morning before we headed back home, and it was pretty incredible. The machines were huge, and each one costs several hundreds of thousand dollars. I didn't need to be a farmer to appreciate the technology we were able to see firsthand. Delaney appreciated the machines also, and the sheer size of them made her look even more like the little munchkin that she is! She sat in the tires, ran around the machines, and even got a matching John Deere shirt to remember her trip by! We always knew Delaney was a John Deere girl, it's clearly in her genes!
